Feature and Follow Friday is host by Parajunkee and Allison Can Read and give bloggers a topic to discuss each week while discovering new blogs.
Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?.
That's a hard one. I can't think of the worst cover but the two that I can think of because they are inaccurate and bother me come to mind. Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa because the girl on the cover isn't Asian, but the main character of the book is of Asian descent. A similar thing for One Breath Away by Heather Gudenkauf as the girl on the cover looks much younger than a 13 yr old.

I still love the books, but I'm sorry to say, the covers could have been better. =(

I hate when the cover model isn't the same race. That is so lame and so assuming that we wont read a book bc an asian is on the cover. :/

Yes, the MC was of Asian descent.

I really like the cover of The Immortal Rules! The girl could represent the race of the Vampires, it doesn't particularly have to be the main character. To be honest, I didn't even notice it as I was reading the book. :P
ReplyDeleteI've just followed your wonderful blog via GFC, Sabina.<3
Here's my FF.(:
I don't hate the cover. I couldn't find a book I've read where I hated the cover. These were the only covers I could find that I had a problem with. She might represent the race but it seems odd when the MC is female, and so is the girl on the cover. It just would have been nice if it matched the MC instead. =)

I loved The Immortal Rules front cover, but like you I did find it confusing how she wasn't the same race as the MC.

The Immortal Rules is on my TBR list. I totally didn't know that the main character was of Asian descent, so you're definitely right about that cover! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy Friday!

I like the cover idea for Immortal Rules, but I agree that the girl on the cover should've been Asian. New Follower!

I don't like the Immortal Rules cover either. Good idea, but it really looks like a cheap Photoshop job. And yes, just another pretty white girl on the cover.

Do they ever take a poll from the consumers/readers for book covers?...Maybe they should. My response to the question was the Stephanie Plum series....very colorful, but not real appealing...at least to me. Anyway, I am a new follower through GFC as lucyatmax/no pix. This is sad! I have both books, but I haven't read either. The Immortal Rules cover could be better (or many I like the cover for her Iron Fey series much better!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, I'm an old follower!
Ugh, I hate it when the cover models don't represent the characters in the book well. I've read the Immortal Rules and I agree. I was disappointed with the cover. Hopefully the next installment in the series will have a better cover!

I've heard that the main character of The Immortal Rules was supposed to be Asian. I wonder why they didn't use an Asian model? I can't wait to finally read the book, I've heard so many great things about it! I absolutely loved The Iron King... I haven't read the rest of the Iron Fey yet.
